Drop into GTA V today and, yeah, it still feels busy. Not new, not shiny in that launch-week way, but alive. Los Santos has streets to wreck, hills to climb, and a ridiculous amount of water to mess around in. If you're grinding, exploring, or just topping up your plans with GTA 5 Money, the map keeps pulling you back into small stuff you forgot existed.

Water Is More Than Empty Space
The ocean wraps the whole map, so sooner or later you hit it. Pools, rivers, lakes, the Alamo Sea, and the coast all work as swim spots when the water is deep enough. You don't press a magic "start swimming" button. Your character just moves from walking into swimming once the ground drops away. Simple, but easy to forget if you've been driving everywhere for years.

Basic Dive Controls Players Still Mix Up
1. PC uses Spacebar to dive.
2. PlayStation uses R1 to dive.
3. Xbox uses RB to dive.
That's the bit people usually get wrong. The other bit is depth. A shallow pool might let you splash around, but it won't always let you properly submerge. Head to the ocean or a deeper lake if the button seems dead.

Underwater Movement Feels Backwards At First
Once you're under, GTA V uses that old aircraft-style feel. Push up and you go deeper. Pull down and you rise. On PC, Left Shift keeps you moving, with W pushing you downward and S bringing you up. On consoles, X or A moves you forward while the left stick handles direction. It's not hard, just odd for the first minute.
Here's the quick version most players actually need mid-swim.

Keep an eye on your angle, not just the button. A lot of drownings happen because someone is calmly swimming further down, thinking they're heading up.

Breath, Sharks, And Not Dying Like A Rookie
1. Watch the light blue breath bar.
2. Surface before health starts dropping.
3. Use the knife if sharks close in.
The breath meter sits near your health, and it matters fast. When it empties, your health gets chewed up. Scuba gear fixes the timer problem in story mode once unlocked, and the dinghy at the Sonar Collections Dock can also get you geared up. Without it, don't get greedy chasing a package on the seabed.

Why Diving Is Still Worth Learning
Diving isn't only for messing about. It helps with hidden packages, underwater points of interest, easter eggs, and general map knowledge. Some cash pickups are said to sit in the $5,000 to $25,000 range, though locations and version quirks aren't always cleanly explained. Swimming also builds physical stats over time, which helps when triathlons or long water escapes come up.

Online Safety Still Matters
GTA Online is active enough that cheat sellers still chase its players, and that's where things get messy. Reports around the Atlas Menu breach claimed tens of thousands of accounts were exposed, including emails, usernames, IP addresses, tickets, and bcrypt password hashes. Paid menus can mean bans, leaks, and drama you didn't ask for. If you'd rather stay clean, play straight, protect your login, and only buy cheap GTA 5 Money from places you actually trust before heading back into Los Santos.
